A client contacted me and said, “Can you make a small painting I can give my husband for Christmas? His favorite hunting dog ‘Molly’ has just passed away. This photo was taken after the painting was varnished about a year after it was completed. So that is why it is kind of “shiny”. It is very important to wait a while for oils to dry. Only then should you varnish them, or they will prematurely crack.

This is a copy of an old photo my Grandfather had in his pocket when he passed away in 2001. He was one of my biggest fans. (It’s from an oil painting sketch I painted in the early 1990s.)
