Still Life Gallery

Welcome to the Still Life gallery. This collection explores the quiet beauty of everyday objects, both man-made and natural. From the intricate textures of a handcrafted musical instrument to the organic forms of beachside stones, each photograph focuses on the deliberate interplay of light, shadow, and composition. By freezing these moments in time, these images invite you to slow down and appreciate the artistry found in the details of our world.

In still life photography, the photographer creates an image of inanimate, everyday objects. These objects can be natural (like seashells and rocks) or man-made (like a stack of books, a cake, or a toy).

Within a broad still life category, they can also be grouped into a few smaller, specific styles:

  • Product & Commercial Photography: This applies when items like a toy, a decorated cake, or a musical instrument are shot with clean, focused lighting, often for a portfolio, advertisement, or website display.
  • Macro & Close-Up Photography: This applies when you zoom in tightly to capture the fine details and textures of smaller objects, like the patterns on a seashell or the grain of a rock.
  • Found Still Life: This applies when you photograph objects exactly as they are found in nature or an environment (like a pile of rocks on a beach), rather than staging them yourself.
